The clearest thing in this data is drift. The early years lean on personal growth and business; the recent ones are dominated by politics, history, and the institutions that hold both. That shift is gradual and unplanned — nobody decides to become a politics reader — but across the stacked area below makes it hard to miss.
Two other patterns hold up. The median book here was published 3 years before it was read, and 145 of 318 were read within two years of publication — this is a shelf that follows the present rather than the canon. And the pace is remarkably steady: the longest run without a finished book is 4 months, against a streak of 56 consecutive months with at least one.
